"I'd imagine that would put a crimp on your relationship," Alice nods back, then can't help a snicker. "Oh dear -- you just can't win with the Star Wars Expanded Universe, can you?"
"I would hope so, but yeah," Vic agrees. "Although it does make him look appropriately old-mentorish, I guess. . .still, get that razor ready, Luke."
"Obviously," Alice nods as Lisa explains about the first story. The second gets a tilt of the head. "Curious -- so you've got something concerning the very beginning of your relationship, and something concerning its end. Which I suppose makes sense in its own way, but it's the middle that's the most fun."
"Knowing you've got all the plot-relevant stuff already done is very important to a writer," Vic says, holding up a point-making finger. "Though I agree that the relationship could use more middle. This probably isn't the best example, but 'Triskaidekaphobia' was made up of scenes I originally wrote down thinking no one would read them but me. The alter ego could string them together as a series of vignettes from your life if she likes. Perfectly acceptable."
Vic snerks as AL tacks on that last comment. "Okay, yeah, good point. The hardest part is always keeping your focus and not rushing off to the next shiny idea."
