"Look, I'm just saying that it would be rather funny if you were the one who inspired all those tentacles and shizz in his work. I mean, Queensland is prime eldritch real estate."

"I'm not denying that," Alice says, wondering how her birthday celebration took a turn toward the Cthulhuian. (Oh, right, her mun is mildly obsessed with all things cosmic horror.) "It's just we have no idea if Mr. Lovecraft was in the area or not at the right time."

"He doesn't necessarily have to be if we're talking about dreamwalking. . ."

Vic grumbles. "My intention was that he get a look in Alice's mind, get freaked out, and all his most tentacley creations be a result of that. Because really, when you think about it, the Queen of Hearts is pretty Cthulhuian."

"Well, it appears reality has foiled you," Alice says, patting her shoulder. "You'd think that most of his work and its derivatives having the 1920s as their favored time period would have tipped you off, though. . ."

"For some reason I was certain he was born earlier -- not thirty-five years after you were," Vic says, shaking her head. "And yeah, AL, they all share the same birth year -- except for Secundus!Alice, and she's only shoved forward five. Still not late enough. Her taking a trip to the States for a later meeting is not entirely out of the question, but it wouldn't be likely. Hence why I think it would be easier for it to be a dreamwalking thing -- who cares about physical proximity then?"

"My games canonically take place in the 1870s," Alice adds. "1873 and 74 for the first, going by the casebook, and 1875 for the sequel. There's really no way to move me around without everything going massively AU, and for once that's not what Vic was going for."

"And," adds AL, "according to its Wiki, 'Otherlands' takes place in 1876." She shrugs. "You may need to have him be inspired the old fashioned way -- by books. Maybe instead of Lewis Carroll writing the Wonderland books, Alice herself did and gave her tentacle-y twist on them." She shrugs again. "That's the only thing I can think of currently without going AU."

"All in a neat little row," Alice nods. "And I believe it was already planned in the Forgotten Vows Verse for that version of me to write the books -- and Victor to illustrate them. In fact, wasn't there going to be at least three in that world?"

"Yeah -- I figured you'd do kid-friendly versions of some of the domains featured in the games," Vic confirms. "The trouble there is 'kid-friendly' -- they'd still be children's books. I dunno -- I guess maybe I should stick to having her battle the Lovecraftian horrors instead of inspiring them."
