Easter Fool's Birthday?

Because, technically, it is also Easter Monday.

Regardless, we all know the drill by now, don’t we? It’s a birthday, and it’s Simon’s! Honestly, he’s quite satisfied with the mun’s declaration that he’ll never be the victim of an April Fool’s prank here as celebration, but hey – having the Inkwell decorated with Easter egg-patterned balloons and getting presents from his friends is pretty nice too. And who’s going to pass up free cake?

So come in and have some fun! The mun’s only played one prank today, and it’s not even on Dreamwidth – you’re safe.

"Well, why else would you be giving it to me?" Simon asks jokingly, opening it up. He pulls out what looks like a wristwatch. "Suppose I shouldn't be surprised that you're giving me something to do with time -- and you're right, I do need one."

"Actually, that doesn't just tell time," OckDoc says, his tentacles chirping. "It's also a wrist-mounted GPS. Now you never fear getting lost again."

"Or, at least, you can fear it at least 92% less," Jules adds from over his father's shoulder. "Though that's just a rough estimate."

"Oh! Definitely something I need, yeah!" Simon laughs, strapping it on. "Thanks a bunch, guys. No more mysterious roads for me!"

"You're welcome!" the Docs chorus.

The mun waves at him. "And from me -- the present I really should have gotten you first thing. Well, second thing -- excusing you from any April First jokes should still be first."

She jerks her thumb toward the door. "Your car's out front."

"Seriously?!" Simon rushes to the front door and -- that's his car! With the familiar yellow paint job, and the squid dangler, and the IGSF2D plate! Looking no the worse for wear from its brush with zombies, either. "Oh, fantastic! I've been wondering what happened to it for ages! Thank you so much!"

"You're very welcome! Happy birthday, Buddy!" Vic says with a grin.

(And the decision NOT to tell him that she just watched the video again, and realized that his car was seen wrecked right before the end. Hell, even if she had realized it earlier, she would have fixed it up for him, so -- no harm, no foul.)

AL and the guys pop in only fashionably late.

"Hi, folks!" she chirps as the guys place the cakes on the bar like always. "Happy birthday, Simon!"

--giving of gifts placed here, though if you want to be funny AL could've gotten him an album by the real Simon and Garfunkel, lol--

"Hey Lisa," Simon says, accepting his present. "Thanks!" Her choice of gift does get a slight groan. "Yes, very funny," he says, smirking at her.

((Strangeness! *shrug*))

AL smirks back and winks at him.

"So, what's up? Anything new going on?"

(Edit: I am, or was, having a conversation with Helloween on Twitter about Doctor Who, lol. And Jonathan Creek before that. Where was this guy when we were both single?! :p)

"We're on a road trip in our world," Marty says with a grin. "Across the United States and back again. I think Vic's having us hit California soon -- won't that be weird," he adds to Doc, who nods.

"That's cool. Will you be singing 'California Here I Come' on your way?" She chuckles.

"I was thinking of Huey Lewis and the News," Marty grins. "We're probably obligated to sing 'Back In Time' at least once." Dee giggles and claps her agreement.

AL nods. "Yeah, that's true. I guess it's a requirement when your canon has awesome songs on the soundtrack."

"Is that why I catch you singing 'The Stowaway' around Christmas time?" Ten asks of her.

She gives him a look that says 'Well, duh'.

"Yeah, definitely," Marty agrees, chuckling. "Probably should do 'Power of Love' too, while we're at it. And 'Earth Angel?'"

"Be a bit odd, given that a road trip is hardly romantic in nature," Doc points out.

Marty's response is to point to DG-Victor and Alice. "You were saying?"

AL snickers. "I say just go meta, pop the soundtrack into the --insert music player of your choice-- and sing along." She giggles, then as an example begins to hum the overture.

"Yeah, but you can't really sing along with our main theme," Marty says, shaking his head. "Humming's not quite the same."

"Sure you can!" Vic says, pulling up something on her laptop. "Forget about this video?"

Marty watches it for a moment, then laughs. "Oh, right! Yeah, I had. It's been a while."

AL laughs. "That's pretty good. Better than what they came up for the Doctor. Though I do enjoy that. But it's either that or you need at least two people to properly do the theme."

Jack and Ten launch into their rendition of the Doctor Who Theme while some of the other guys clap the beat.

The gang listens. "Yeaaah -- that's more of a spoken word poem over the theme, I think," Lucy says, frowning. "Needs more zip."

There's a round of giggles, and some of the Docs add their own clapping. "Come on, guys -- if everything turns into a music video, I won't be special anymore," Simon jokes.

AL giggles. "Aw, Simon. You'll always be special. If there's anything Mr. Rodgers has taught us, it's that EVERYONE'S special in their own way."

((I've been watching Mr. Rodgers Neighborhood...hehe, oops))

Simon grins. "Yeah, good old Mr. Rogers. . . Wonder what he'd make of some of our adventures? Probably prefer your version of the undead over mine," he adds to the Victors, who shrug.

AL shrugs. "No idea. I can tell you I do prefer Victor's Land of the Dead over, well, mostly anything. I'll never find out cuz, yanno, immortal, but it's nice-ish to think about. If the afterlife is a big party, well, okay then."

"That's basically what I thought," Forgotten Vows says, Tie-Twister nodding along. "It was part of why I was willing to -- well -- marry Emily. If that was death, then. . ."

"I don't blame you, honestly," says AL. "Especially with the world you live in. Er, no offense, of course. I think you just needed out of Burtonsville and somewhere more...colorful." She suddenly smirks. "Visiting Alnilam probably would be an assault on the senses, what with the multicolored...well, everything." She chuckles.

"None taken -- Burtonsville is a horrible little place and I'm glad to be out of it," Forgotten Vows says, folding his arms. "Even if the alternative is Whitechapel. . ." He grimaces, then tilts his head. "That colorful?"

The other Victors nod. "Trust us on this," Butterfly Boy tells him. "It's even brighter than the Land of the Dead."

AL nods. "Come over sometime. The others can show you the way." She spreads her hands to encompass the group. Once the weather gets warmer - " ((*shakes fist angrily at Mother Nature* ")) - there'll be tons of butterflies for you. I think the other Victors have filled up more sketchbooks than they know what to do with, haven't you?"
