Another party, so (relatively) soon? Well, it is a holiday -- Victor's favorite holiday, in fact! And neither DG-Victor, Forgotten Vows, nor Butterfly Boy is willing to let it pass by without any recognition at all. So they've set up what they believe are the necessities for a proper May Day:

-->A Maypole with colorful streamers out in the back yard

-->A picnic blanket for those who would like to eat outside

-->Little floral centerpieces for all the tables, as well as a basket of flowers hung on the door

-->And flower crowns! They've each made themselves one, and are busy tying together daisies and violets to make ones for their friends. Alice and Dee are already sporting theirs, and they're more than willing to make some for anyone else who might pop by wanting to celebrate spring.

So yes -- if you're of a mind to prance around in flowers and maybe have some snacks, come on by! You don't want to make Victor (any of him) sad, do you?

AL and the guys come walking down the sidewalk (or whatever...never thought of the logistics of how they arrive) and see all the decorations and all that other stuff.

"Hey, all," she says, confused for a second before it clicks. "Oh, yeah. Well, I said my days were all wibbly. It's the first of May, isn't it?"

Hooks immediately clambers up into Dee's arms and sniffs her crown. "That's very pretty," he says.

Hooks smiles. "Sure!" Then the smile falters. "I'd offer to help, but I'd think one would need thumbs to make something so lovely." He flexes his one-finger arms (think of a sloth but without the claws).

AL pats him. "You're fine. If anything you'd be great at swinging around the Maypole."

"I'll take one," she says to DG-Victor. "I can't speak for the guys, though."

((I can't decide who'd have one and who wouldn't so...leave it ambiguous))

Hooks blushes, then blushes deeper when Forgotten places the chain on his head. "How do I look?" he squeaks.

"Adorable," says AL, patting him. "I'll take a daisy-and-violet one. Purple used to be my favorite color before I met Tommy."

"Aren't violets blue?" asks Hooks. "The poem says so."

"He hasn't spent much time on Earth," explains AL. "Violets actually come in a variety of colors, purple among them. Some are even bicolored like blue and yellow. And on Alnilam, well like most of the plants there they come in all colors of the rainbow." To DG-Victor, she says, "They don't have to be violet violets...whatever you have is fine."

"Cute!" Dee agrees, tickling him a bit.

"Funny -- purple's Vic's favorite color," DG-Victor says, amused. To Hooks, he adds, "And she's right -- even here on Earth, lots of flowers come in different shades. Roses, for instance, if we're going with the poem. They can be red, white, yellow -- even blue, under the right circumstances."

"Yes, like a long stay in the Land of the Dead," Forgotten confirms, finding some purple violets for the crown. "Daisies and violets...innocence and faithful love. Or modesty -- I think it depends on the color."

Hooks giggles and maneuvers his arms to tickle her back.

AL smiles. "Or rainbow. I think we brought some of those way back when for some reason or another." I'm sure they did I just can't remember the reason.

"A daisy," Data says in what he assumes is a helpful manner, "symbolizes innocence and purity. It can also symbolize new beginnings. The flower meaning of daisy is 'loyal love' and 'I will never tell'." He blinks and cants his head in confusion. "Tell what, exactly?"

AL and the guys shrug. "Maybe a secret told in confidence?" suggests Luke.

"Ah," says the android. "Intriguing." He blinks again and continues his definition. "Violet flowers symbolize delicate love, affection, modesty, faith, nobility, intuition and dignity. The meaning of the violet changes depending on the color of the flower and the person the flower is sent to. Blue violet flowers symbolizes love and faithfulness, white violets represent purity and chastity, and yellow violets symbolize high worth and goodness. A purple violet would symbolize that the giver's 'thoughts were occupied with love' about the recipient."

"Ooh...better make those white, Victor," says AL quickly. "Or give that crown to Alice if it's too late to switch. I don't think she'd like it very much if I got that one." She chuckles lightly, wings twitching and turning a bit pink at the tips.

Dee squeals as she's tickled, giggling madly. "Hey!" More tickles for you, Hooks!

DG-Victor blinks. "Wait -- you don't mean naturally grown rainbow, right? I thought you had to dye them."

"Well, we can grow rainbow-colored roses, but yes, in non-mad-science worlds -- or non-Lisa ones -- they're dyed," Butterfly Boy tells him. "You cut the stem and put each piece into different colored waters, and the rose soaks it up and dyes the petals. It's pretty fascinating in its own right."

Forgotten stares at Data as he relates the meanings of daisies and violets. "Er -- yes, I believe 'I will never tell' applies to secrets. . .I'm from the Victorian era and you know more about flower language than me," he adds, laughing and shaking his head. "Then again, I never had much chance to practice with a sweetheart. For violets I was just thinking of Lisa's tendency to stay with all of her paramours for as long as possible."

"I don't know if we have white. . ." DG-Victor takes a look, sorting through the flowers. "We have some blue! Those should be acceptable, right?"

"I suppose we could add some purple to mine," Alice says, taking hers off with a playful smirk. "I've caught you staring at me with a far-off grin enough times, after all."

"Yeah, you can dye celery the same way," says AL as Five turns away to hide his decorative vegetable. "Not your celery, of course."

"Well," Luke says to Forgotten, "Data is an android. He's a walking encyclopedia."

"He's like our own personal Google," giggles AL. "Watch this. Data, when is International Butterfly Day?"

"There is no 'International Butterfly Day'," the android replies, "however, National Learn About Butterflies Day occurs on the 14th of March, Butterfly Education and Awareness Day - BEAD - is the first Saturday of June each year - "

"See?" AL cuts him off. "Of course he's more than a walking pantheon of knowledge. He's also a great friend. Blue is fine, Victor, thanks."

Butterfly Boy chuckles. "Oh come on, Doctor. A rainbow celery would be even more of a fashion statement," he teases.

"That's true -- I just didn't expect someone who lives on a starship to know much about flower language," Forgotten says, rubbing the back of his head. "It's not really relevant to everyday life on the Enterprise, is it?"

"Technically, neither is everything we know about butterflies," Butterfly Boy points out. He grins as Data reels off a few dates for butterfly-themed days. "Really? A shame that we missed the first -- but maybe we could do a little something for the second. At the very least, I feel like I should get a new experiment going."

"Blue it is, then," DG-Victor agrees, blushing at his wife. "And, uh, we'll add some purple to yours later."
